The Leylines – Debut Album On The Way

In some ways it seems like a long time ago but I first came across the Leylines at Something Else In The Dean in September of 2014.  I remember clearly standing with my mates Addie Burns and Mark Goodman watching their set and commenting to each other “wow these are a bit bloody good.”  In truth they were among the highlights of the weekend.

I have been fortunate enough to see the Leylines on a number of occasions since then and as a live band they are superb.  I also reviewed they debut EP a while back and was blown away by it.  You can check out that review here.

Back in May the Leylines went down an absolute storm at Bearded Theory Festival where they were once again one of the highlights of the weekend. You can check out my review of their set here.

Make no mistake the Leylines are the real deal.  So much so that many of us have been nagging at them on every available opportunity to get an album out.  The Leylines are very clear about what they want to achieve and were determined not to rush into putting something out.  their ambition is to release the very best album that they possibly can.

The Leylines-27

Thats why I am absolutely thrilled to discover that The Leylines are about to lay down their debut album.  I am also thrilled to see how they are going about it.  February will see the Leylines head to Brighton to record at the Levellers Metway Studios.  The Leylines should be totally at home in that environment because the Levellers are one of their major influences.

The attention to detail doesn’t stop there however.   The Leylines album will be produced by none other that Sean Lakeman.  Sean is simply one of the best in the business, he will undoubtedly understand the Leylines vibe and pull together a fantastic piece of work.

Engineering for the album will hopefully be done by award winning sound man Al Scott who put together no less an album than the Levellers Levelling The Land, arguably the best album recorded in the last 30 years.

This is an exciting time for the Leylines and I have no doubt that the album will be a masterpiece.  We even have the opportunity to help out by pre-ordering the album, something I urge you to do.  This could well be your opportunity to be directly involved in the creation of the best album of 2016.

About The Sound of Summer

Hi, I am Alan. I live in Broadstone, Dorset with my wife, Shirley, my son, Ryan and two dogs called Bailey and Jasper. I have recently retired after working in the Armed Forces and in Public Service since 1977 so I now have a bit more time to do the things I love. Music is a huge part of my life and always has been. I have a broad taste in music and can find something to enjoy in most styles of music. I have always been attracted to music which has something to say, is outside the mainstream and is perhaps a bit rebellious. I guess my early influences were late 1970's Punk and new wave bands, especially those who came out of Northern Ireland where I grew up. I loved Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, Rudi, Starjets etc but also bands like The Ramones, The Clash, The Jam and so on. I like singer songwriters including Van Morrison, Springsteen, Neil Young & Bob Dylan and in recent years I have become more interested in folk and acoustic music but I also love the sort of high drive energetic Folk/Punk music delivered by bands like The Levellers, Leatherat, Ferocious Dog and many others who frequent the UK Festival scene. I have long since lost the desire to spend my holidays laying around in the sun and these days am much more likely to be found in a muddy field somewhere in the UK during the festival season.
