About The Sound of Summer

Hi, I am Alan. I live in Broadstone, Dorset with my wife, Shirley, my son, Ryan and two dogs called Bailey and Jasper. I have recently retired after working in the Armed Forces and in Public Service since 1977 so I now have a bit more time to do the things I love. Music is a huge part of my life and always has been. I have a broad taste in music and can find something to enjoy in most styles of music. I have always been attracted to music which has something to say, is outside the mainstream and is perhaps a bit rebellious. I guess my early influences were late 1970's Punk and new wave bands, especially those who came out of Northern Ireland where I grew up. I loved Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, Rudi, Starjets etc but also bands like The Ramones, The Clash, The Jam and so on. I like singer songwriters including Van Morrison, Springsteen, Neil Young & Bob Dylan and in recent years I have become more interested in folk and acoustic music but I also love the sort of high drive energetic Folk/Punk music delivered by bands like The Levellers, Leatherat, Ferocious Dog and many others who frequent the UK Festival scene. I have long since lost the desire to spend my holidays laying around in the sun and these days am much more likely to be found in a muddy field somewhere in the UK during the festival season.

Over the past five years, Imagine Dragons have become one of the world’s most popular rock bands. Imagine Dragons have several Grammy awards under their belt, and their debut album, Night Visions, was a hit across the world, selling over seven million copies. The Imagine Dragons sophomore album, Smoke and Mirrors, entered the Billboard chart at No 1., and the hit single “Radioactive” sold 10 million copies and has been streamed over 220 million times. This Friday, June 23, Imagine Dragons will release their third full-length album, Evolve; a release that is eagerly anticipated by the band’s fans.

WWE SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan, has been off-air for the past couple of months. As reported by The Heavy, Bryan took a sabbatical, because he and his wife, Brie Bella, have just welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Birdie Joe Danielson. During Bryan’s absence from SmackDown Live, the shows viewing figures have been tumbling, and many think that the blue team got the rough end of the WWE “superstar shakeup.” The ongoing absence of WWE superstar John Cena, who hasn’t performed since WrestleMania 33, may be a factor, but the fans are just not buying into some of SmackDown’s recent storyline developments.

Season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead is heating up. As the new season on Fear The Walking Dead began, key characters were missing. Ofelia Salazar was missing in action, her mother Griselda dead, and her father Daniel believed dead after a fire. Fans may have believed that the Salazar family was set for a wipeout in the post-apocalyptic Zombie drama. Not so, according to Dave Erickson, co-creator of Fear The Walking Dead. According to Fansided, Erickson told Entertainment Weekly, that both Daniel and Ofelia Salazar were set to return to the show.

Last night saw Indo-Canadian WWE star Jinder Mahal retain his WWE Championship crown by beating Randy Orton on his home turf. During the SmackDown exclusive Money In The Bank PPV, Mahal pinned Orton to retain the championship, albeit with a little help from his friends, the Singh Brothers. Mahal’s latest victory continues his push on the WWE network. Mahal is triumphing over all-comers at the moment, as the WWE network continues to raise his profile, particularly on the Indian sub-continent.

As previously reported in the Inquisitr, The Maharajah struggled to make any impact during his previous stint with the WWE. Mahal returned to the independent wrestling circuit after being cut from the WWE roster in 2014 but returned to the WWE in 2016. When Mahal returned, defeats to Neville and Sami Zayn hardly suggested that he was on his way to champion status, but all that changed once WrestleMania 33 was over.

London, one of Europe’s great cities, is in the midst of the sort of crisis not seen since the 7/7 bombings in 2005. Back in March, Islamic terrorist Khalid Masood killed four people and injured 50 others when he drove a car at high speed into pedestrians walking on Westminster bridge near the Houses of Parliament. In that attack, unarmed police officer Keith Palmer was stabbed to death. Masood was shot by police officers.

On June 3, eight people were killed and scores more injured after a van containing three Islamic terrorists smashed into pedestrians on London Bridge. As reported in the Guardian, the terrorists attacked passersby with knives before making their way to the nearby Borough Market area, where they were shot by armed police officers.

Rock Band Urges Calm After Grenfell Tower Survivors Storm Kensington Town Hall In London

As reported earlier today in the Inquisitr, tensions have been running high in London as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire, which has killed at least 30 people. The Metropolitan Police announced that over 70 people are still missing, and said that it is unlikely that there will be any more survivors.

Residents of Grenfell Tower are increasingly angry at Theresa May’s government, and the company who managed the building. It has been feared that a protest march in London this evening could spark civil unrest, and even riots, but it appears that protesters have stormed Kensington Town Hall, demanding justice for the Grenfell Tower residents. The Independent says that hundreds of protesters are carrying a list of demands that they say the authorities must meet.

Fantasy Photography Trip To The South Of France

A few weeks ago I saw a casting from one of my favourite UK models advertising a photography trip to Chateau Goudourville in the South of France from 1 – 8 July 2017.  The trip is being organised by Sophie Merlo Photography, based in Bristol. And full details of costs are on the events website.
The location is in a fantasy location, an authentic 11th century Castle that was redesigned during the Renaissance, and welcomed Pope Clement V, King Henry the 4th and Queen Catherine de Médicis.
france trip 3
The trip includes shoot time with no less than four of the UK’s top models.  I have already worked with Sinopa Rin, and all three of the other models were on my “must work with” list for 2017.  Jezebelle, Helen Diaz and Volkova are superb and very popular models.  All four models are highly skilled, and they are experienced at working with everyone from novice to top professional photographers.
All four models are top professionals, they can help you with lighting and they really know how to help any photographer to get the best images possible.  Sinopa Rin works to lingerie level, and all three of the other models work to nude levels.  Photographer numbers on the trip are being kept small to ensure that you have plenty of shoot time with the “house” models.  Photographers are also invited to bring their own models at a subsidised rate, if they so wish.  The trip may also be attractive to aspiring models who would like to have the opportunity to work with some great photographers, creating unique images that will be a boost to any portfolio.

Experienced photographers on the trip (including myself) will be on hand to help with lighting and advice should you need it.  If you need a little boost with your editing skills, bring your laptop with Lightroom and Photoshop installed.
Do check out some of the models work by clicking this link.
As if that wasn’t enough to tempt you, Sophie has booked a very skilled stylist, Tabitha Boydell, for the duration of the trip.  Tabitha has created a range of fabulous outfits for the models, this will allow all the photographers to capture totally unique images.

This area in France is famous for its fields of sunflowers that should be in bloom when we are there (this is seasonally dependent). A real artists’ paradise.

Lovers of authentic castles will be enchanted by this old medieval fortress which over time has transformed into a warm and welcoming castle. Its crowning glories are many: the Guards Room, its cosy chapel, its charming guestrooms where numerous illustrious visitors have rested their heads, its Courtyard of Honour where Henry IV planted the flags of his defeated enemies…

I have nothing to do with the organisation of this trip, I am attending as a photographer and taking my wife along for a holiday.  Flights to Toulouse are available from many UK regional airpots, and very reasonably priced on Easy Jet.  Flights are not included in the cost of the trip.

Any interested photographer or model should contact Sophie direct on her email address at
