About The Sound of Summer

Hi, I am Alan. I live in Broadstone, Dorset with my wife, Shirley, my son, Ryan and two dogs called Bailey and Jasper. I have recently retired after working in the Armed Forces and in Public Service since 1977 so I now have a bit more time to do the things I love. Music is a huge part of my life and always has been. I have a broad taste in music and can find something to enjoy in most styles of music. I have always been attracted to music which has something to say, is outside the mainstream and is perhaps a bit rebellious. I guess my early influences were late 1970's Punk and new wave bands, especially those who came out of Northern Ireland where I grew up. I loved Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones, Rudi, Starjets etc but also bands like The Ramones, The Clash, The Jam and so on. I like singer songwriters including Van Morrison, Springsteen, Neil Young & Bob Dylan and in recent years I have become more interested in folk and acoustic music but I also love the sort of high drive energetic Folk/Punk music delivered by bands like The Levellers, Leatherat, Ferocious Dog and many others who frequent the UK Festival scene. I have long since lost the desire to spend my holidays laying around in the sun and these days am much more likely to be found in a muddy field somewhere in the UK during the festival season.

WWE ‘Raw’ News: John Cena Teams Up With Roman Reigns, Then Calls Him A ‘Corporate Knockoff’

Last night’s Monday Night Raw saw John Cena and Roman Reigns team up to defeat Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a tag match. As reported by the Inquisitr yesterday, Cena is now a free agent and is appearing on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live. The WWE rumor mill suggests that Cena’s free agent status is being used to boost wrestling superstars like Reigns, and last nights Raw suggests that those rumors are correct.

WWE Rumors: Is John Cena’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ Switch A Boost For Roman Reigns?

WWE superstar John Cena is arguably the WWE networks biggest star. When the WWE brand split took place last year, it seemed strange that Cena was drafted to SmackDown Live, rather than the premiere Monday Night Raw.Many would have expected Cena to be the face of the WWE’s premium brand, but that position went to Roman Reigns, a wrestler who remains unpopular with the WWE universe.

WWE SUMMERSLAM 2017 REVIEWS SIGNAL THAT BRAUN STROWMAN WILL SHOW BROCK LESNAR ‘NO MERCY’

WWE superstar Braun Strowman may not have won the Universal Championship at the 2017 WWE SummerSlamevent. However, Strowman did manage to position himself as the WWE networks premier “Monster Among Men.” Many commentators, including 411 Mania, branded SummerSlam 2017 a “poor” event, but most have praised Strowman’s performance, in the “fatal four-way” as the highlight of the evening entertainment. With the UFC rumor mill suggesting that Brock Lesnar was being lined up for a match against Jon Jones, many expected Lesnar to relinquish his Universal Championship at SummerSlam.

SMITHS LEGEND MORRISSEY BACK WITH NEW SOLO ALBUM AND HOLLYWOOD BOWL SHOW: HOW TO SCORE PRESALE TICKETS

English singer Steven Patrick Morrissey is better known by his stage name “Morrissey,” and he shot to fame as the singer with 1980’s alternative band The Smiths. Morrissey captured the attention of a worldwide audience, but The Smiths music resonated most strongly with those in his native Manchester. Morrissey’s lyrics reflected the lives of working class youth in England and his dry, acerbic wit, and his political views hit out at the establishment and at Margaret Thatcher’s brand of politics. With songs like “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now” Morrissey’s lyrics were downbeat and hard-hitting, a theme that continued into his solo work after The Smiths broke up in 1987.

WHY JOHN CENA VS. JINDER MAHAL SIGNALS A NEW AGE ON WWE ‘SMACKDOWN LIVE’

WWE superstar John Cena returns to the ring in tonight’s WWE SmackDown Live, and the signs are that Cena is ushering in a new age on the WWE network. As any wrestling fan knows, Cena’s movie and television commitments have limited his appearances on SmackDown over the past couple of years. Cena returned to the ring at the 2017 Royal Rumble, where a fantastic match with AJ Styles saw him equal Ric Flair’s record of 16 championship titles.

WWE ‘RAW’ NEWS: ROMAN REIGNS VS. BRAUN STROWMAN IGNITES THE ‘FATAL FOUR-WAY’ AT ‘SUMMERSLAM’ 2018

WWE wrestling fans have known for some weeks that the 2018 SummerSlam will feature Brock Lesnar’s first defense of his Universal Championship belt. With Lesnar virtually invisible, since winning the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 33, the SummerSlam build up has been all about who he will face at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on August 20. Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns were always tipped to challenge “The Beast Incarnate” at SummerSlam, but Samoa Joe has also earned a title shot, since making his main roster debut earlier in the year.

SAMOA JOE TURNS BROCK LESNAR A STRANGE SHADE OF PURPLE ON WWE ‘MONDAY NIGHT RAW’

At last, Brock Lesnar is back on the WWE network. Lesnar has been out of competition, since he beat Goldberg, to win the WWE Universal Championship, at WrestleMania 33. Once WrestleMania was over, Lesnar slipped into another hiatus, and as previously reported in the Inquisitr, he has not competed since. Lesnar’s absence from Monday Night Raw, has doubtless hurt the WWE’s viewing figures, so his return, on last night’s show, is certainly welcome.
