2016.  Seafair’s already been working hard at not letting the winter months go to waste with a co-headlining slot at Brite Winter 2016, headlining trips to Pittsburgh, Akron, with several weekend runs throughout the region upon them and a full East Coast summer tour in August.  In between, Seafair plans on several single & video releases, including “Birdhouse” off of The Querencia, as well as a brand new EP release planned for the fall.  They’ve already spent time at critically-acclaimed producer Jim Wirt’s Crushtone Studios with the red wizard himself Jim Stewart at the helm engineering two new brilliantly catchy tracks for the EP, “Jukebox Soul” and “Parachute,” which the band has been playing with as part their live show since January.

Beartooth – This Is The Sound Of Your Children Revolting

Beartooth‘s frontman Caleb Shomo is one of the most engaging front men in modern rock music.

Check out this powerful video for Beaten In Lips one of the tracks on Beartooth’s debut album Disgusting.  As you will see it is a powerful message highlighting domestic abuse against children.  It is both thought provoking and powerful.

After a stunning performance on the third stage at last years Download Festival the boys are back this year to show the main-stage crowd what they are made of.

The Glass Child – The Year I Disappeared

Charlotte Eriksson [The Glass Child] is back with the first song from her forthcoming album.

Launching a crowdfunding campaign for her latest offering Charlotte said “For my last record I said that I wanted to build up storms inside of people; make them think and leave a mark.”

“With this record and with these songs, I’d like instead to throw out a soft blanket during dark nights. I’d like to shelter when it’s cold and comfort when you’re lost. I’d like the record to be like northern lights, lightning up the sky; something to follow when you simply don’t know where to go. Because that’s what those songs did for me. Writings these songs have kept me going.”

“My music has been my lifeline, and my wish is that these songs can be like guiding lights for someone else too.”

I have been a massive fan of the Glass Child’s music ever since I stumbled across her music via Twitter of all things.  If this track is anything to go by I am sure Charlotte will achieve her ambition of wrapping the listener in a warm blanket.  It is a beautiful piece.

ASKING ALEXANDRIA Debut Video For ‘Let It Sleep’

ASKING ALEXANDRIA are perfectly poised for the biggest year of their already illustrious career with the release of their fourth full-length album, The Black (March 25th). Couple that with yet another huge North American trek with fellow countrymen, Bullet For My Valentine, starting April 30th and all the pieces are set into place.

In anticipation of the release the band are very proud to present the striking, new music video for the new disc’s opening track, ‘Let It Sleep.’ The group once again teamed up with renowned director Ramon Boutviseth (Dream Theater, Nonpoint, Veil of Maya), who also shot the band’s last video for ‘The Black.’

Ben Bruce (guitars) states: “Everyone has their inner demons. Everyone has their own mental fights they have to deal with. Don’t let them consume you. Let them serve as a reminder that things could always be worse. Fight your inner demons and find your inner peace.

Life is all about how quickly you get back up. In January 2015, everything changed for Asking Alexandria. The chart-topping, gold-selling UK hard rock outfit parted ways with singer and founding member Danny Worsnop. On the outside, the future might’ve seemed uncertain—even grim—to some, but Ben Bruce [lead guitar, vocals], James Cassells [drums], Cameron Liddell [rhythm guitar], and Sam Bettley [bass] dusted themselves off, lifted their chins, and got right back up.

We hadn’t reached our destination yet, and Danny had,” admits Bruce. “I think it was necessary. When it happened, I was devastated. I lost my best friend. We even started referring to this part of our career as ‘The Black period.’ It was the darkest time, but we weren’t going to give up. If he hadn’t left, I don’t think we would’ve been as inspired as we were. I also don’t think Asking Alexandria would still be around. Instead, we’re more excited than ever about this band.”

In order to properly do that, the band actually turned to a fan. Ukrainian singer Denis Stoff gained notoriety posting Asking Alexandria covers on YouTube and consequentially inked a deal with Sumerian Records in his band Down and Dirty. Bruce shot him an email one night. The next day, a new Asking Alexandria song had vocals and a new era in the band’s history took form.

Asking Alexandria have been announced to play at this years Reading and Leeds festivals August 26-28 2016.

New Years Day Launch Stunning New Video

The good people at Noise Cartel are spoiling us today.  Hot on the heels of the announcement that Enter Shikari have added London’s Arcane Roots to the bill of their Alexandra Palace headline show later this month we are now sent the news that new Years day have launched a new video.

Without doubt new Years Day were one of my favorite new finds from last years festival season.  I saw new Years Day at Download festival and was totally blown away by the sheer energy and intensity of their live performance.  I also had the pleasure of interviewing the and photographing New Years Day so if you missed it you can catch up here.

New Years Day have certainly caught the energy of their live performance in the newly launched video for the track “I’m About To Break You” from the stunningly excellent Malevolence album.

Vocalist Ash Costello states, “This video was so much fun to make! We are big fans of Mad-Max and have always wanted to make a post-apocolyptic style video so i’m glad we pulled it out for “I’m About to Break You.” The location we filmed at was a few hours away from Los Angeles and they put on a festival every year called ‘Wasteland Weekend’ that is dedicated to the post-apocolyptic lifestyle. We had a blast making props and riding around in those amazing cars. Having fans and friends join us as extras made it icing on the cake.”

NEW YEARS DAY who are currently on the ‘Hate Me’ tour with Escape The Fate & label mates Like A Storm, have released their third full length studio album ‘Malevolence’ in October 2015, which scored them their highest first week sales and Billboard Top 200 at #45. ‘Malevolence’ was produced by Erik Ron (Motionless In White, Issues) and is the band’s first release on Another Century Records.

Enter Shikari

Enter Shikari: Redshift – New Single And Video

I am a massive fan of Enter Shikari.  They are an incredibly talented outfit who are not afraid to mix up their sound.  When you check out an Enter Shikari album you can expect to find dub step fused with rock, electronica fused with metalcore, always fresh always interesting.

It does sometimes take a few listens to reach an understanding of where songs are coming from but the effort is repaid in spades.

Today has seen Enter Shikari drop their new single, Redshift and if this is anything to go by it may indicate that the next Enter Shikari album may be more of a straight rock affair.  I listened a few times to get the feel of it but it was only when I watched the video that things really fell into place.  The video is visually stunning and really helps to put the lyrics into context.  You Reynolds is a master song-writer and this tune may indicate that he is currently on a creative high.

Produced by the band and Mindsweep producer Dan Weller, and mixed by Tim Bran (London Grammar, La Roux, The Verve), the track is accompanied by a video directed by Mike Tyler (responsible for the bands previous videos Anaesthetist and Torn Apart)

As vocalist Rou Reynolds explains:

“Redshift is a song about bloody good luck! On the grandest of scales! Literally! Our universe is expanding faster and faster and a few trillion years from now, everything will have sped away from us so fast that all we would see when looking out from Earth is empty space. We would deduce that we were totally alone in the universe. A lost sheep. The last and only biscuit in the tin”

Redshift’ arrives ahead of the band’s most ambitious UK tour; bigger rooms than they have headlined in before, utilising quadrophonic sound for the first time in their live career, and their largest production to date. Support comes from The Wonder Years and the freshly-reformed original line-up of The King Blues.

Following the UK run, Enter Shikari head to mainland Europe for a tour that includes the band’s biggest German shows ever, and see them joined by The Qemists for the first half of the tour, and Modestep for the remainder.

Stevie Simpson – Christmas Song

I’m delighted to share the Christmas song and an incredible video from my pal Stevie Simpson.  The song is more than a little political and points out the distain many of us feel towards David Cameron and his truly awful government.

No apologies from me or indeed from Stevie 🙂
