It all kicked off last night at WWE SmackDown Live in Pittsburgh, and as predicted in the Inquisitr yesterday, AJ Styles was at the center of the action. You may have noticed that all the recent WWE news is about the buildup to WrestleMania 33. In recent weeks, the WWE network’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live shows have focused on the back stories to the planned event at wrestling’s premier event, which takes place in Orlando, Florida on April 2. Over recent months WWE superstar Sami Zayn’s feud with Braun Strowman has been one of the highlights on the Monday Night Raw half of the WWE brand split. For weeks, we saw Zayn play the fall guy for Strowman’s hilarious antics. As previously reported in the Inquisitr, we saw Strowman chase Zayn around the auditorium, before finally catching up with him in the ring. WrestleMania 33 could well prove to be The Undertaker’s swan song. In the wake of WWE Fastlane 2017, we are seeing the WrestleMania rumor mill go into overdrive. The official poster for WrestleMania 33 has a story to tell, and that story is a worrying one for the WWE network. It would probably be false to say that the WWE are in trouble. However, the official WrestleMania 33 poster indicates that the WWE feel the need to push its veteran performers, at the expense of younger wrestlers. Of course, with WrestleMania 33 just three-weeks away, the WWE network need to sell tickets, advertising, and most importantly, PPV subscriptions. That said, many members of the WWE universe have spoken out, about the WWE’s advertising, and many are not happy.
We are just three-weeks away from WWE WrestleMania 33. As the date approaches for wrestling’s showcase event, WWE has been busy introducing storylines to set up WrestleMania 33. As recently reported by the Inquisitr, recent editions of Monday Night Raw and Smackdown Live, have been used to set up “grudge matches” for WrestleMania. We saw Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton refuse to face Bray Wyatt. That was swiftly followed by Orton setting fire to part of the Wyatt Family compound. Unsurprisingly Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt is back on.
WWE superstar John Cena, returns to the ring on Sunday for the 2017 Royal Rumble. Of course, Cena is not competing in the battle royal himself, instead Cena gets the opportunity to win his 16th world championship. Many were surprised when it was announced that Cena would face off against 2016 sensation AJ Styles, in a world championship bout. After all, Cena rarely enters the ring these days, his film and TV work keeps him busy elsewhere. Nonetheless, AJ Styles vs. John Cena is a mouthwatering prospect for WWE wrestling fans.
